Buda Patron-in-chief
Buda Historic Home & Garden has a long association with Hungary through Ernest Leviny, who came to Australia from Hungary in 1853 and eventually purchased the house and property here at 42 Hunter St Castlemaine, marrying and raising his 10 children.
In order to honour Ernest’s heritage, Buda’s Patron-in-Chief is the standing Hungarian Ambassador to Australia, Dr István Mikola.
Dr Mikola is from Veszprém, Hungary. He is the Ambassador of Hungary to Australia and the Ambassador of Hungary to Papua New Guinea. He resides in Canberra.
