Our new series of Traditional Arts workshops
July’s workshops will take place in the Garden room and/or outside with plenty of space for physical distancing, Covid safe hygiene protocols in place and a limit of 8 people per workshop.
BOOK NOWAlways a hit at our Traditional Arts Fair, Peter Lukaitis will expand on his demonstration to take you through the whole process of strudel making.
With more than a nod to Buda’s Hungarian roots, Apple strudel is a traditional Viennese strudel, a popular pastry in Austria, Northern Italy and in many other countries in Europe that once belonged to the Austro-Hungarian Empire.
Peter will demonstrate all the processes for making the perfect strudel then while they are in the oven you will be treated to a strudel afternoon tea handmade by Peter. You’ll also get to take some hot strudel home straight from the oven along with Peter’s own recipe.
Peter Lukaitis moved to Castlemaine in 1990, lives in an old 1860’s house and appreciates the history, intactness and beauty of Buda.
“I’m a great supporter of preserve and conserve.
I have been making deserts since we lived on a farm at Sutton Grange. I like being a little bit creative and seeing others enjoy the result. I tend to be averse to change and I like doing something well, so I suppose I have been making strudels for maybe 15 years! You can have them hot or cold, they keep in the fridge and with some Greek yoghurt, heaven!”
