24 Jan New Verandahs
The stairs from the kitchen door of our Garden Room were dangerous and unsheltered and the area at the front of the venue (east sliding double door area) required repairs and an upgrade to make it a more useful space. We sought funds to enable us to build one portico at the back with new stairs and shelter, and to repair and roof the pergola at the front of the venue.
Rotary Castlemaine very generously supplied us with both a grant and a builder. With Neil Fraser from Rotary’s help (pictured above), Colin was able to complete the rear portico under budget. The remainder of the grant was combined with a private donation and the generous time of another local builder and we were able to fully build the new verandah on the east side. Both have already proved to be great additions to our venue, with added safety and comfort at the rear and a more useable and expanded space on the east. Visitors have even been seen having picnics there in the rain! Thank you to all involved.
