Buda Patron-in-chief
Buda Historic Home & Garden has a long association with Hungary through Ernest Leviny, who came to Australia from Hungary in 1853 and eventually purchased the house and property here at 42 Hunter St Castlemaine, marrying and raising his 10 children.
In order to honour Ernest’s heritage, Buda’s Patron-in-Chief is the standing Hungarian Ambassador to Australia, Zsolt Csenger-Zalán.
Mr Csenger-Zalán is from Budapest and is an Hungarian chemical engineer, businessman, politician and diplomat.
He replaces Dr István Mikola as the Hungarian Ambassador to Australia 2024.
