Illuminated Flowers, with watercolour and gold leaf: Dianne Longley workshop

Botanical images from the Leviny sisters’ journals will be the inspiration for drawings on fine paper. Participants will be shown how to add 24ct gold leaf illumination to a drawing on fine paper, then add watercolour to create a beautiful artifact.

Price includes materials: a selection of drawings, fine art paper, 24ct gold leaf, gold leaf size, graphite carbon
Please BYO lunch and 2-4 fine to medium pointed round brushes and a small selection of watercolours.

Dianne Longley, BVA, MA, PhD works with a range of traditional and digital processes including printmaking, encaustic and oil painting, pokerwork on wooden panels, artist books, on-glaze porcelain, and small scale bronze casting.

The production of artist’s books has been an ongoing practice in her oeuvre, ranging from unique hand-painted books to limited edition hand-printed books. Many of her artist’s books are in the collections of the SLV and the NLA. In 2018 she was awarded a PhD by the ANU, ‘The Development of a Print Culture in South Australia Post-WWII to 2008: institutions, politics and personalities’ that focused on a previously overlooked era in SA printmaking.
