SUMMARY:All roads lead to Buda and afternoon tea
DESCRIPTION:Susie Williams who was Principal of Women’s College Sydney University from 1919 -1935 \nWomen\, Art & Education\n \nJoin us for a delightful afternoon tea and lecture by Buda Committee member Dr. Mandy Leveratt.\nBOOK NOW\n[vc_row][vc_column width=’1/3′] \nEnid Joske who was Principal of Janet Clarke Hall\, Melbourne University from 1928-1952 \n[/vc_column][vc_column width=’1/3′] \nDorothy Leviny 1913 \n[/vc_column][vc_column width=’1/3′] \nHilda Leviny 1907 \n[/vc_column][/vc_row] \n\nBuda is well-known for the work of Ernest Leviny and his daughters – from silversmithing through to embroidery and photography\, the Leviny’s were an extraordinary family. Their discerning eye for modern artists brought them in touch with such talented artists as Margaret Preston and Jessie Traill. \nBut through marriages and close friendships with other prominent families in Castlemaine\, the Leviny daughters also knew most of the key women who were responsible for the development of women and girls’ education in Victoria and New South Wales both at secondary and university level. \nThis talk will outline all those connections and show how the Leviny’s played a hitherto unacknowledged part in drawing together those threads. \nDr. Mandy Leveratt has a PhD in late nineteenth and early twentieth century feminist and social history from the ANU. For most of her career she worked in the not-for-profit sector undertaking policy and research work.\n\n\n\n\nBOOK NOW\nPlease email any dietary restrictions
